What is Volbella?
Volbella is an injectable treatment that was developed by Juvederm and approved by the FDA as a trusted lip filler. Volbella injections not only offer visible results in creating a fuller lip, but the results are also natural-looking and feeling, making them an ideal choice for individuals who are looking to get fuller lips without being too obvious that they have used filler treatments. Volbella is a nonsurgical lip enhancement product that is non-invasive and has easy to obtain results that can be done in a short amount of time in your doctor’s office and has almost no downtime, recovery time, or risks. This revolutionary way to fill and shape lips is changing the way patients think about lip fillers and injections!
What is Volbella Used For?
The FDA approved filler Volbella was designed to offer a natural-looking filler to the lips. The simple product can enhance lips and make them look fuller and smoother, while reducing the lines and wrinkles in the lips themselves. Volbella has also shown to have success in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the lip area, as well, including smile lines. While these lines and wrinkles were once very difficult to treat, it has become easy to restore the look of younger-looking skin using Volbella. This can offer patients a boost of confidence along with a natural-looking smile that looks just the way they want it to!
How Long Does Volbella Last?
Volbella has been shown to help fill in fine lines and wrinkles, reducing their appearance for up to a year (12 months). Since Volbella contains hyaluronic acid, which is naturally occuring in the body and is key to having that plump, filled look, (like other products in the Juvederm family), it allows the injections to last longer than others. If you want the results to continue looking fresh, it is important to get touch up treatments once a month or once every other month, depending on your doctor’s recommendations.
What to Expect After Volbella Injections and Recovery
Volbella injections are typically gentle and mild, allowing you to get both natural looking and feeling results with minimal discomfort. Pain is minimal since Volbella contains Lidocaine to minimize pain, and the injections can be combined with a topical numbing cream prior to treatment.
After Volbella injections, you may notice a slight pain at the injection sites, but this typically only lasts for a few hours. A bit of swelling and redness at the sites is also common, as is itching. These side effects tend to clear up within a few days to a week. If they last longer, contact your doctor for a follow-up.
There is generally no downtime after receiving Volbella injections, although limiting sun exposure and avoiding extreme physical activity for the first twenty-four hours after treatment is ideal. Also, remember to abstain from alcohol for twenty-four hours after getting your lip fillers as well.
Risks of Using Volbella
Volbella is a lip filler with almost no risks aside from the side effects you may experience after treatment. While the risks are minimal, it is important to note that, like with any procedure, they do exist. A few risks of using Volbella include the following:
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Lumps and bumps
- Uneven results
- Rash at injection site
- Scarring at injection site
- Infection of injection site
While slight redness, bruising, tenderness, and itching are common side effects for the first week or two following treatment, if these side effects last longer or you notice any changes, it is important to notify your doctor. Also, if you feel your injection sites may be infected or you develop a rash or fever, contact your doctor immediately.
